Ground Breaks on Hart Flat Fuel Break as $538K CAL FIRE Grant Kicks Into Action

The Kern Fire Safe Council is proud to announce ground work has begun on the “Hart Flat Community Protection Project.” At the end of 2024, we were awarded a CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grant in the amount of $538,027.86. These funds have supported, and continue to support, critical wildfire mitigation efforts on the southern and eastern sides of the community of Hart Flat. This project will be implemented through March 15, 2030, and is being done in collaboration with the Kern County Fire Department, FIELD’s Kern Service and Conservation Corps (KSACC), and other valuable community partners.
